June Reunions
November 1946

FOLLOWING LAST SUMMER'S program of catching up with postponed class reunions, the Alumni Council and the Dartmouth Secretaries Association have recommended to class officers that reunions next June be held on two weekends. Most of the "2" and "7" classes will meet in Hanover June 20-28, one week after Commencement. Following the traditional plan, the 50, 55, and 60 year classes will gather on the campus during Commencement, June 13-15. In addition, in order to give full recognition to the importance of the 25th reunion, the class of 1922 will hold its 25th anniversary gathering at Commencement and together with the oldest classes will attend the graduation exercises of what will be Dartmouth's first large postwar senior class.

With a throng of seniors and their parents and guests to be accommodated the College could not take care of housing and feeding an additional large crowd of alumni and their families during the Commencement weekend. The same situation existed before the war when the plan of separating graduation and most of the class reunions was successfully begun. This program will be continued next June with classes scheduled to meet in Hanover as follows:

June 13-15: Classes of 1922, 1897, 1892, 1887.

June 20-22: Classes of 1902, 1907, 1912, 1917, 1927, 1932, 1937, and 1942.

Because nearly all classes except the above groups held reunions this past summer the Alumni Council proposes to follow the traditional five-year reunion plan, at least next year and the year after. Whether the Dix Plan, or some variation of it, which provides for the return to Hanover of classes that were in College together, will eventually be adopted will depend upon the decision of classes to be sought later by the Alumni Council. Many of the groups which experienced a reunion weekend with adjoining classes last summer have already expressed their desire to operate on a similar schedule in the future. For the time being, however, only the "2" and "7" classes will hold reunions next June, and probably only the "3" and "8" classes will reune in June of 1948.
