Again it is necessary to turn to the obituary notices to learn of the death of Slats Robinson and Dick Whelden, two loyal, active, and popular members of the class. They died within two weeks of each other. "Slats" we will remember as a prominent member of the Band and a fine soldier. He was prevented from attending our last reunion, to which he had looked forward for many months, by his last illness.

We are happy that Dick and Priscilla could have been with us at Whitefield at which time Dick was in excellent health. Dick was especially well known by all members of the class and leaves a large empty space in the hearts of all of us.

The India Rubber World makes reference to Carroll C. Davis of the Boston Woven Hose & Rubber Company, Cambridge, Massachusetts, as follows: "A graduate of both Dartmouth College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mr. Davis received his B.S. degree from the former in 1911 and from the latter in 1914. He has been with Boston Woven Hose since 1914 and since 1925 has been chief chemist. In addition, C. C. Davis is well known for his years of service as editor of the A. C. S. publication, Rubber Chemistryand Technology, as assistant editor of Chemical Abstracts, and possibly more particularly as editor with John T. Blake, of the A. C. S. Monograph, 'The Chemistry and Technology of Rubber.' A member of the executive committee of the Division of Rubber Chemistry of the A. C. S. and of its bibliography committee and a consultant of the WPB and now the CPA on rubber products, Mr. Davis will aid India Rubber World in the mechanical rubber goods field and also in the field of rubber literature."

Another one of John Coggins' frequent letters has arrived, and it appears that John has been living over again the joys of reunion and in fact brags a bit about the showing of the Nashua delegation, saying that to have Heald, Griswold, Seth Emerson, and himself together at one place at Whitefield was quite a triumph. "Memories linger on," says John.

Another 1911 son joins the staff of the Hanover Inn Dick Ballou who was with Frank Dodge this past summer in charge of sports at the Mountain View has joined the staff of the Hanover Inn under Dave Heald. I feel sure they will do what they can to make any classmate of their dads feel at home.

In 1907 two freshmen, Harold Bond and Les Hawkridge, came to college as roommates in North Fayerweather. In 1938 their sons, Harry Bond and Ed Hawkridge, did likewise, even occupying the same room that their dads had in North Fayerweather. On November 16th at the First Church in Cambridge, Ed Hawkridge was best man to Harry when the latter was married to Miss Nancy Inghram Ewart. Harry Bond has recently become instructor in English at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Ed Hawkridge has become associated with his father in the firm of Hawkridge Brothers & Company.

All will be delighted to know that Fred Eaton, who had been forced to take it easy and remain after us at Whitefield for several weeks on the pretense of needing a rest, has returned to his business and now gets to the office each day.
