THE SUMMER REUNION program as outlined in last month's issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE is well under way and class plans are rapidly developing. There is every indication that reunion weekends will be a notable experience for the classes involved, particularly the unique feature that for the first time classes from the same college generation will return to Hanover together. Several groups are planning joint activities, particularly in conducting memorial services and meetings. Barbecue picnics will be popular events for class members and their families.
Class secretaries, reunion chairmen and their committees have received a memorandum outlining detailed plans and arrangements to be made by the College for each reunion group. It is recognized that with six weekends to plan for, it is necessary for the College to make over-all plans for some events to save duplication and program conflicts. Three such items are the Alumni Dance on Friday night, the Webster Hall entertainment on Saturday, and provision of class tents. It is the recommendation of the Hanover Committee on reunions that these three items be handled by the College, with classes including such expenses in the class tax.
Mailings from the College to cover reservations both for dormitory rooms and the Hanover Holiday program will be sent out next month to all members of classes scheduling reunions. This year it will not be possible to put the dormitories into first-rate condition for reunions, for several o£ them have been occupied constantly for the past three years. In addition several of the dormitories will be unavailable for reunion groups. These are Middle and South Fayerweather, now given over to married students' apartments; College Hall, which is the headquarters of the Navy Unit; and dormitories necessary to house the summer enrollment 'of students. For those who desire to spend additional time in Hanover, for a vacation and to attend the Hanover Holiday lectures, special dormitory space will be available.
Your class officers will keep you posted concerning your particular class events. Watch for these announcements in your class notes and newsletters.
