A LEWIS MACHINE GUN has recently been added to Dartmouth's growing armaments as a gift from George Fenn Lewis Jr. '47N, grandson of the gun's inventor, the late Col. Isaac Newton Lewis. It has been loaned to the NROTC Unit for display purposes and as a teaching aid in the Naval Science courses.

In its journey of transferral from the Lewis home in Montclair, N. J., to the College armory, the gun was confiscated by suspicious Navy officers who found it stowed under Lewis' bunk in Massachusetts Hall, but everything was finally explained and the College took possession.
