To the Glee Club
To THE EDITOR: How I enjoyed those years on the Dartmouth Glee Club! I realized then that there is a wonderful fellowship of song, and it is my opinion that nowhere among the colleges and universities is this fellowship more wonderful than at "dear old Dartmouth, bless her name!"
[ have sung in many different men's choral clubs since graduation in 1910, and the following lines, growing out of my experience through the years, are dedicated to the Dartmouth Glee Club, and are offered to the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, to express my inner feelings about the joy of singing together!
THE FELLOWSHIP OF SONG
(Dedicated to The Dartmouth Glee Club) O come, and let us raise a song, As we are gathered here— And sing, in chorus full and strong, Some theme of hearty cheer! All thoughts of care now fling aside, And yield to music's power! Enjoy the fellowship of song In this delightful hour! With blended tones and balanced parts— In chords we love to hear, We voice the hopes of manly hearts, And charm the list'ning ear! In many a pleasing melody, Then in a soft, sweet strain, We harmonize in cadence low, And swell a grand refrain!
Inspired anew, our spirits rise To heights unknown before, As in this mood we realize The power of music more! So, fellows, let us linger here, And sing fraternally- And may this Fellowship of Song Be ours eternally!
