The writer, accompanied by Bartlett '89 and S. S. Perry 'BO, the only surviving member of his class, made the trip to the Secretaries' Meeting at Hanover. The old Granite State was in its most beautiful verdure and metropolitan Hanover was a scene of great activity. At the dinner Pres. Dickey warmly welcomed the Secretaries, Treasurers and Class Agents. His earnest summary of college needs was given in an informal way and created the general impression that his selection as President would prove the sound judgment of the Trustees. The tragic death of Dean Strong was the one source of sadness. Our roommate at the Inn was Stanley Johnson '87, a genial and sedate Stanley, but once a rampant sophomore who demanded '88's football.
Announcement has been made of the marriage of Hope Spencer Waters to Mr. John Hartshorn Thomas, June 15, 1946 at St. Paul's Chapel, New Haven, Conn. Mrs. Thomas is the granddaughter of Henry Spencer and has just completed her third year at Mt. Holyoke College. She will return to complete her course. Mr. Thomas was released from the Navy July 1. Every good wish from '88 to the young people.
The picture in the June ALUMNI MAGAZINE of Col. Russell B. Livermore 'l5 being awarded the Legion of Merit will cause his father's old friends to note a strong paternal resemblance. "Livy" was a forceful character and most loyal classmate and '88 rejoices in Russell's merited honor.
It required a wedding in the family to stir up Spencer. We all know how devoted he is to his granddaughter, and in his letter he is another member who pays a high tribute to the wives of '88.
On the return trip from Hanover we missed a call on Keay at Rochester, N. H., but found John Lew Clark at home as we passed through Exeter. We were glad to meet Mrs. Clark and daughter Helen, who has a position in the administrative office of Exeter Academy.
The death of Frank Justus Davis in March of this year removes another classmate from our list. See In Memoriam.
AT THE 59TH REUNION of the Class of 1887 over the Commencement weekend, the following members posed for a class picture on the Inn lawn. Left to right, Dr. Frank B. Sanborn, Herbert E. Gage, Judge George H. Bingham and Fred A. Howland.
