Pursuing the even tenor of its modest way, the golf team won four of its six dual meets during the season, winning from such aggregations as MIT, Williams, Middlebury, and Amherst and losing to Princeton and Navy. Such evidence would suggest that the Green plays in approximately the same league in golf as the Little Three, while it is not quite up to the calibre of the college big time—at least this year. The leading performers on the hilly expanses of Hilton Field were Captain Stan Rice at No. 1, Rupe Daniels and John Handwerg at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, with Ed Cooper showing an occasional flash of brilliance. This year as every year, Coach Tommy Keane is plagued with the lateness of the season in these chilly parts, for it is impossible to get in much practice work before the first of May at the earliest and often not until much later. Hence the Green is handicapped in its contests with aggregations from more tropical climes, who always have a month or more of practice on the local gladiators.
With this intelligence, we sign off until October, when football will be very much in the air.
