Graduates Span Nine Classes
Degrees Awarded to Men from 1940 Through 1948
THE GRADUATION EXERCISES in the Bema on June 29 had many special postwar features, but nothing was more out of the ordinary than the fact that the blackgowned seniors who stood before President Dickey to receive the bachelor's degree represented nine different classes, from 1940 through 1948. The great majority of the graduates were veterans who had returned to the campus after war service to complete their college courses.
The following list, by classes, contains the names of those who received June degrees and also the names of February graduates, many of whom returned to receive degrees at the regular Commencement exercises:
