We in 1902 are, for the most part, past the peak of our greatest earning power but are still proud of the few remaining who can carry on in high places. We hope their health may keep up with the judgment and experience which has promoted them. By and large our class is financially not in the high brackets. Our class agents for the Alumni Fund realized this and have treated us gently. We respect this and thank them. We are proud of what they have done and especially happy to see what Roy Hatch could do since he took the reins.

In the past few years it has become the habit for classes at their 25th Reunions to give a Class Memorial Fund Gift to the College and these funds have become substantial in amount and a great help to the College as the use of the money is unrestricted. The class of 1894, at the 25th Reunion, gave $25,000; the class of 1900 gave the Outing Club, and we at our 25th Reunion furnished the Study Hall in the Library. So we were in a small way in on the start of this idea of Class Memorial Funds.

Since our part was comparatively small, perhaps we can make up a wee bit in the future, remembering that Dartmouth is not a richly endowed college. The College must now depend on her Alumni more than ever since the hope of larger endowments to come is almost nil. As the committee for 1923 states:

"Dartmouth does not want one button more than you can afford to give"; but really we could all give a little something when Roy writes us each year, and also why not put a little gift to the College in our wills when we next revise them. The Scripture says: "We bring nothing into this world and it is certain we take nothing out."

As it is New Year's Day, when I am writing this, I wish you all a Happy New Year and hope to see you all June 20, 1947, at Hanover.
