As I have already given a list of 1902 men who spent their early years in teaching, might be of interest to tell of those who have made teaching their life work. We can boast of a goodly number of professors.
At Dartmouth Chivers and Griggs were Professors of Biology, Bill Murray of Modern Languages, Watson of English and GrahamAssist. Prof, of Pathology in the Medical School.
At Columbia Farwell was Professor of physics, at Princeton, George Elderkin Professor of Archaeology; Arthur Ruggles Lecturer in Psychiatry at Yale and Moore Professor of Math at Mass. Aggie. Our Class Agent Roy Hatch was Prof, of Education at New Jersey State Teachers College, Pattee Prof, of English at Colorado, Lambert Prof, of Histology at Univ. of lowa, Tracy Prof, of Microscopic Anatomy & Neurology at Univ. of Kansas. Julius Brown was Dean of Arts and Sciences at Univ. of Beirut, Syria and Phil Fox a famed Prof, of Astronomy at Northwestern.
We had two school Superintendents, Cushman in Manchester and Gilman in Laconia. Carey Ladd taught history and became Master of Boston English High School and Tom Barnes made a fine name for himself as Principal of Lincoln High School in New Jersey. Bill Howard taught languages in Holderness & Lawrenceville, Lamprey was head of the Dept. of Math in Manchester 19 years and Neale Carley many years head of the Latin Dept. at Francis Parker School, Chicago. Bunker, Eddie Cregg, "Pa" Eaton and Chesley Smith spent their lives teaching. But of all these, there is only one in the class who is still teaching; a grand teacher, having taught at Exeter and been Master at Lawrence & Abbott Schools, "Mose" Perkins is still on the job as Head of the English Dept. at Clark School, Hanover, N. H.
