OUR theory that there is a wealth of good speaking talent available among our own club members was borne out on two different occasions during January.
We heard from one of our best known and most "kidded" members on January 21st at our weekly luncheon. His name, of course, is Lowell Haas '36, Assistant District Traffic Manager for United Air Lines in Washington. Lowell presented some illuminating facts explaining the present status and problems of the major airlines in the country and their plans for the future.
One week later it was a pleasure to hear from Bill Willard '26, who is a Vice President of the National Savings and Trust Company here in Washington. Bill gained a great deal of renown during the War when, as a Naval Reserve Officer, he was appointed Officer-inCharge of the Bank of Guam. He took us through each step in the resurrection of the Bank of Guam, to provide everyone with fifteen interesting and worthwhile minutes.
Many thanks to you two speakers. For the information of all club members, there will be more and more of these talks at our Tuesday luncheons at the New Athens Restaurant.
