For once, Coach Tom Dent is in the pleasant position of having a considerable number of young men around who have played lacrosse before. He does not have to instruct such a large percentage of his charges as usual in the rudiments of stick handling and the other niceties of the Indian pastime. In fact, he can put a couple of teams on the field made up largely of men who have played one or more seasons before. It will be interesting to watch the season unfold under these (for Tommy) unusual circumstances.

The spring trip for the racketeers saw a victory and a brace of defeats. The victory came over Pennsylvania by the decisive margin of 7-0. The first defeat was suffered at the hands of the powerful Manhasset Lacrosse Club by the score of 10-6. The second defeat was undergone before a Navy powerhouse to the tune of 19-5, a contest which was far closer than the count would indicate. Back at home, the genial Tommy has been daily exhorting his charges to greater heights, on the practice football field back of the wooden stands, pending the opening of the season against Harvard on April 19.

MAKING THEM STEP FAST AND HfGH: BackfieJd Coach Milt Piepul puts ball-carrying aspirants through a lengthy drill stressing sudden shifts of direction while travelling at top speed during football's spring session.
