THE appointments of nine new faculty members beginning with the fall semester were announced by President Dickey during the summer. They are J. Edward Walters as Professor of Management and Industrial Relations, Tuck School; Arthur O. Davidson of Renville, Minn., as Assistant Professor of Education; Robert T. Davis of Canton, N. Y., Assistant Professor of Marketing, Tuck School; Edward D. Gruen '31 of Cincinnati, Ohio, as Assistant Professor of Finance and Statistics, Tuck School; Dr. John Godfrey '38 of White River Jet., Vt„ as Instructor in Clinical Medicine, Medical School; Donald A. Sears, of Dorchester, Mass., instructor in English; Comdr. John H. Turner, USN of Los Angeles, Calif., Associate Professor of Naval Science and Executive Officer of NROTC; Lt. Comdrs. Frederick J. Johnston of Brewer, Me., and Frank Malavasic Jr. '42 of Little Falls, N. Y., instructors in naval science; and Linn F. McRride '46 of Evanston, Ill., teaching fellow in zoology.

A native of Corydon, Ind., Professor Walters has been president of Alfred University for the past three years. From 1943 to 1945 he was personnel relations consultant for McKinsey and Company, and from 1940 to 1943 he was vice president in charge of personnel and labor relations of Revere Copper and Brass, Inc.

Professor Davidson comes to Dartmouth from Luther College, where he was head of the department of education. Previously he had been superintendent of schools at Sleepy Eye and Springfield, Minn, and during the war was a lieutenant commander in charge of 85 Naval training schools on the West Coast.

A graduate of Harvard, Professor Davis has been teaching courses in economics and business administration at St. Lawrence University. During the war he served with the O.S.S. in the China-Burma-India theater.

A former resident of Dayton, Ohio, Professor Gruen has been Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Cincinnati. After graduating from Dartmouth, he was employed by the Gulf Oil Corporation for seven years. From April, 1941 to February, 1947 he was an economist for three U. S. war agencies: Office of Production Management, War Production Board and Civilian Production Administration.

GEORGE V. PARKHURST '3O of Baltimore, new member of the Alumni Council representing the Southern States District. Mr. Parkhurst succeeds Charles F. Weston 'lB of Hopewell, Va., who com- pleted his final term on the Council June 30.
