In a recent issue of Time magazine there appeared a very interesting study of the average reader. Gave his age, earnings, family status, his work, and hobbies, also many other details which provoked some rather sharp reresponses.

A secretary of an organization like this can't help being curious about the members of his organization, especially those whom he has never seen. He would be very thankful indeed, and believes that his reports would be of wider interest if more of the members wrote some comments about themselves or the world in general. You know, Joe is delighted to read a little story about Charley, one of his old friends in* college, and darned if Charley doesn't wonder why there isn't something in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE about Joe. Modestv may be something of a virtue, but it sure doesn't help in gathering news. So tell us something about yourself, even if it's just that you're finally getting a wisdom tooth pulled.

Not all the replies to our notices are affirmative, but we like to keep in touch with you anyway. We hope that you like to have us. Many of you do temper your regrets with a request that we keep on trying.

A sample of some-of the replies we received to a recent mailing of statements: one man never heard of our organization—another says he is paying dues in a neighboring group now—another is very appreciative of our efforts, and says that one dollar isn't enough, he is sending two. Another wonders "just when in hell are we going to have that picnic we planned earlier in the season."

We are planning the picnic, a late one. It's to be at Bud Luedke's B & B ranch, high up in the hills, north of Milwaukee. The date is Sept. 11, a Saturday. The locale is hard to find, so we sent a map with the notice, but how many were there, what they did, and a press release on the beauties of the lodge will have to follow in the next issue.
