ALL FIVE MEMBERS OF THE DICKEY FAMILY were present at a 1929 party for Hanover classmates, their wives and children at the DOC Ravine Camp in September. Shown against the backdrop of Dartmouth's Mt. Moosilauke are, left to right, Christina, 12, Mrs. Dickey, young John, 8, President Dickey, and Sylvia, 13. President Dickey, as a vice-chairman of the President's Committee on Civil Rights, also had a prominent part in the preparation of the now-famous report, "To Secure These Rights," which was partly formulated during a committee session in Hanover in the late summer of 1947.
