RECORD TURNOUT FOR DARTMOUTH NIGHT

Over 300 Dartmouth men from near and far converged on the Club on October 15 to celebrate Dartmouth Night. "It was the largest gathering for this event in the Club's history," reports Ed Redman '06, Club Manager, and as far as I could gather there was not a breath of disappointment." EddieChamberlain '36, Asst. Director of Athletics, kicked off the evening's after-cocktail-and-dinner entertainment with a preview of the Big Green's 1948 prowess. Al Foley '20 followed, with stethoscopic readings on the present condition of the undergraduate body. These observations were illuminated by the usual Foley wit and wisdom.

We saw Richard P. On:(ley '29 of Youngstown, Ohio, greeting some of his old friends the other day at the Club bar.

Robert L. Clark '40 has returned to the States from Frankfort, Germany, where he was representing the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey. He arrived in New York just in time to dash over to the Club and help the boys celebrate Dartmouth Night.

Other members of the Class of '40 who were in town for Dartmouth Night were Dick Everett of Nashua, New Hampshire, and DaveGibson of Dayton, Ohio.

Gus Cummings '27 tooled all the way up from Pittsburgh, Pa., to be here for Dartmouth Night.

John R. Mason '15, lucky guy, is spending a month's vacation at Hanover. "Pete" Wallace, purveyor of those lunchtime eye-openers at Club bar, became a grandfather on October 22. Hi, Gramp!

Guy Steeves '11 deserted his Maryland chicken farm to hop up to New York for a brief stay. Last seen he was sampling "Pete's" special refreshments, and wishing he could run into more of his old friends.

The groom-to-be is a member of the Board of Governors of the Dartmouth Club of New York, a former editor of the Club News, and swings a mean racket on the Club squash team.

Dr. Perry Boynton '90 was the oldest class representative attending Dartmouth Night celebration at the Club.

NEW SKI PLAQUE

A new plaque, bearing the names of Club ski champions, has been hung in a place of honor over the Club bar. Many of the great names in Dartmouth ski history appear on the plaque, which replaces an earlier one in moving from the old Club.

Speaking of skiing, Marv Chandler '23, president of the D.O.C. of New York, has announced that the New York skiers expect to have their winter program in full swing by the end of November. Any Dartmouth man interested in participating is invited to get in touch with Marv at his office, 30 Vesey Street, N. Y.
