We received so much comment concerning our Dutch Treat Luncheon commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the famous Dartmouth-Cornell sth Down Football Game of 1940, that I feel it is necessary to give a special vote of thanks to Dick Lippman'42 for preparing the reprints of the Dartmouth and Cornell newspapers concerning the outcome of the game as well as for the preparation and handling of all other publicity materials. The idea seemed- to be a mixture of the minds of Tom Malcolm '54,Dick Lippman '42, Lou Young Jr. '41 and myself. Our social chairman. Bob Clothier'58, and treasurer, Russ McAlpine '59, were probably unable to enjoy the day as they were constantly making sure that everything was running smoothly.

The luncheon can best be summed up as follows: and I quote Tom Malcolm, "In order to top this affair, next year we will have to have as our guest speakers John Marshall and Daniel Webster talking about the Dartmouth College Case." Other notable comments about the sth Down game were Cornell captain, Dr. Walter Matuzak's good natured statement, "If you were young and full of vigor and had just had an 18-game winning streak stopped, how would you feel?" Dartmouth captain, Lou Young's comment, "We hope that had the situation been reversed, we would have acted as fairly and gentlemenly as Cornell" and Referee Red Friesell's telling about the telegram he received from the Commissioner of Football Referees for the ECAC after the. game was over, "Everything's 0.K., Red, don't let it get you down, down, down, down, down."

On to other news. We are very proud of our Newsletter in Philadelphia which is the sole work, and responsibility of, and all the credit belongs to Dick Lippman '42. We thought it would be a good idea to exchange newsletters with other clubs and so far we have about 15 or 20 on our mailing list. If there are any other Dartmouth Clubs who wish to exchange newsletters or who wish to be on our mailing list, please write.

Our line-up of activities for the year is as follows: Annual Dinner, March 24, 1965, stag at the Poor Richard Club - J. Michael McGean '49 will talk about the Alumni College; an informal dance is planned for some time in May and, of course, our Annual Picnic in June. Instead of a Freshman Send-Off Dinner this year, we are hoping to have an afternoon reception for all parents and undergraduates as well as alumni, in late August. This will be followed by a Dartmouth Night, stag, on Friday, October 8, 1965 and our Annual Dutch Treat Luncheon during the Christmas vacation. In addition, our social chairman Bob Clothier '58, has undertaken to provide us with a golf outing, Dartmouth Night at the Phillies and, if possible, to arrange a ski weekend for alumni, wives, and dates during the 1965-1966 winter. If everything goes well, we might be able to arrange a pre-game tent for the Princeton game.

See you all at the Poor Richard Club on Mondays at noon and at 6:00 P.M., March 24, for the annual dinner.
