Having torn off various and sundry Christmas thank-you notes, we'll keep the typewriter hot with more class news. It really shouldn't be called news because you will read this late in February and much of it is bound to be old stuff to you by then. At the end of this column are the names of the 'siers who contributed to the Fund. Ernie Moore has already thanked you, but let me add the thanks of all your class for your contribution.

Beany Thorn comes through with a good newsy letter. I'll even let him call me "Flatfoot" as long as he keeps the dope rolling in. Beany says:

"Joe Stickney has tried to catch me twice and I hope he comes back again. There was a Dartmouth-Cornell Smoker in Albany just before the Big Red were dyed a deeper color but the only *3ler around was Johnny Johnson, who is the able Secretary of the Albany gang. Johnny is still doing social work for the state. IVcdlie Hausman was in for a minute some time ago and so was £rnie Moore. Wish they'd both come back. I don't think much of the idea of running birthdays in the MAGAZINE. Who cares when a guy's birthday is. (Note: They have been deleted, but a birthday card with Beany's usual love and kisses might be appreciated by some forlorn, long-forgotten member of the class.) Had a long letter from DougMorris the other day. He has quite a family. Hear from Guernsey once in a great while, small babies holding us both down. How about organizing a mammoth '3l baby institution, where we can all leave our kids for a month or so at a dollar a day or less.,. It's hard to afford baby-sitters these days, let alone a vacation."

We had a good letter from Prof. MauryWhittinghill from the University of North Carolina the other day. Maury is trying to scare up some U.N.C. teachers to balance the three Dartmouth men we have on the staff now.

It was good news to hear that Bernie Boyle is now Headmaster of the Greer School, Hope Farm, New York. Congratulations from the whole class, Bernie. Abtier Dean (should we call him our naked cartoonist?) is living now at 108 Waverly Place, New York 11. Bill Alton is also in the big city where they have the snow that Tuckerman's can envy. He is living at 865 First Ave., Apt. 16A. Courtney Anderson is a consultant and writer, special purpose films, Beverly Hills, Calif. His address is 352 A So. Elm Drive. Dana Howe is a fourth year medical student at McGill. His address is 3507 Shuter St., Montreal. Bob Huntley is another N. Y. C. resident, living at 601 East 20th St. Dr. Hugh Neely has his office at 30 East 40th St. and is living in Bayside, L. I. Bill White is president of the Wellesley National Bank and lives at 6 Spruce Park, Wellesley Hills, Mass. Nice going, Bill. When times get tough again all of '3l will know where to go to get the loan of a much-needed buck.

In going over the Balances and Additions as of December 2, 1947, for the Class Memorial Funds we find 1930 credited with $1,334.32 and 1932 with $1,740.13 but 1931 isn't even mentioned in that list of twenty-nine classes. What are we going to do about it? Can they do this to '31?

Cards came from Bill Steck and Charlieand Marjorie Nims. Bill says:

"I bumped into Jim McElroy in front of our office building. He was here for some meeting of the clergy. About two weeks ago I saw Bob Lee in Cincinnati. Had I known that Ed Gruen is located here I'd have looked him up. Both Jim and Bob are looking very well. Bob tells me I'm beginning to lose my hair which came as quite a jolt."

Bill Knight and Nancy are living in Charleston, West Virginia. They have three daughters and one son now. Bill is in the electrical business. Kel Wiles is executive assistant to the general manager of Westinghouse Electric in Boston. The Wiles' and their two sons are living in Needham, Mass. Kel speaks of attending the '31 stag at the University Club and the picnic at Groton. Bill Smith is treasurer of the Springfield Institution for Savings, Springfield, Mass. He and Rose have three daughters and are living in Longmeadow. Bill speaks of seeing Bob Dickey. Bill Downey is in the grocery business in Marlboro, Mass. He and Margaret have one son, Bill the third.

Jim Swift is sales representative for the Goodyear Yellow Pine Company, Picayune, Miss., although his Chicago address is Suite 840, 30 N. La Salle St., Chicago. He speaks of having seen Gale Freeman and Bill Cornell.Orry Hobbs is with the Morton Oil Company, Maiden, Mass., and is living at 576 Lowell St., R.F.D. West Peabody, Mass. Durf Day is with the J. C. Penney Cos., in Flint, Mich. He, Madge, Susan and Durf Jr., are living at 1701 Durand St. Joe Clough, Dr. Joe, is an oculist and has his office at 101 Bay State Rd., Boston.

It's good to know that Dave Larrabee isback East once again. As far as we know, Daveand Line Page are our only two class geologists. Dave writes that Line is in charge of theU. S. Geological Survey work on mica, feldsparand lithium deposits in the Black Hills andis living in Custer, So. Dakota. Dave and Kateare living in Bound Brook, N. J., now after:

"I resigned from the U. S. Geological Survey, July 1, 1947, to return to my former job for Staso Milling Cos., after five years with the U.S.G.S. in the U.S., Mexico and Brazil working on strategic minerals during the war and^on Missouri River Basin Development since then."

Jim Rick checks in from Reading, Pa., withthe request that we give plenty of plugs forthe "20th." "If those many hide-bound absentees only knew how much they missed atthe 'lsth,' they might begin making theirplans now." Jim speaks of attending theEastern Pa. Alumni Assoc. Meetings. He, Virginia, and their three offspring, David, Barbara, and Kenneth, are living at 1417 RoseVirginia Rd., Reading.

Charlie McAllister speaks of having seenFrank Hodson, Frank McCord, Dick Cukor,Hank Richmond, Len Clark, Bill Wilson,Doug Morris, Jack Warwick, Ned Kent andCharlie Schneider. Doug Morris is vice president of Pedlar and Ryan Advertising Agencyin New York. Doug, ask Barry if he remembersthat wild ride from Little Creek to N, Y. inDec. '42.
