r-pio Miss JANE WILLIAMS of Scranton, our Ed Elsenhans '35 of Camp Hill and Philadelphia said "I do" in January. Their honeymoon was spent in Hanover and they were present for Carnival. Frank Davenport '38 was best man, and too, he has just completed some graduate work at Penn State. We'll be calling him "Doc" before long.
Welcome home to George Foss '97, founder and father of our club. Down South this winter he ran into some poor health while visiting his son, Brad '25. in Atlanta. Our recent meeting was the second in some forty-odd years that George has missed.
Word from Jim Wulpi '14, who is in Calcutta, India, says he may have to move on into China and that he expects to get home this summer for a couple of months. There is one Dartmouth man in Calcutta that he has met and two or three in Bombay. We certainly are looking forward to your return Jim.
In February, we held our annual dinner meeting in the Harrisburger Hotel. Don Cameron '35, associate in Placement and head of Class Reunions, was down from Hanover as our guest speaker. He brought us up to date with the many events on campus—stressing particularly the admissions problem and the Great Issues course. We now understand the honors for such a course really belong to the Hanover High School, which has had one for several years. The admissions problem is so tough now that the sons of the faculty and officers of the College were told to apply to other schools as well—just in case!
Harold Van Riper '14 and his crew on the nominating committee railroaded through the same officers for the coming year: "Bo" Daniels '32 president, Phil Molloy '25 v.p. and yours truly as sec.-treas.
Dick Conklin '45, who just graduated this February, gave us first-hand information regarding the Great Issues course and Carnival. Others present: Les Bailey '30, Charlie Mumma '31, Jim Dunlap '30 and Walt Dunlap '38 all from Lancaster; BillWolf '43, Jack Wright '37 and Horace Hoch '29 all from York; Parker Karnan '17 from Williamsport; Frank Corlett '35 from Reading; John Wadham '03 from New Oxford; Bill Abbott '25, RossLyon '27, Bill Page '06, Sid Bogar '28, John Bogar '29, Bill Page Jr. '33 and Mr. Rauch, guest of Horace Hoch, all from Harrisburg.
We had a most interesting session one Sunday at Mercersburg Academy—interviewing approximately fifteen fine boys. "Bo" Daniels masterfully handled this somewhat delicate situation, and he was ably assisted by Harold Van Riper. Mercersburg placed only one boy in Dartmouth last year and the faculty greeted us by stressing this point.
