Hail, noble '72s, far and wide! Writing this column on December 26 of the old year, I have to remember you won't receive it until mid-February of the New Year, so please accept my warmest belated wishes for awonderful 2007 for all! Go to www.dartmouth.org/classes/72. Got it? Memorize this Web site or add it to your "favorites" list. We'll talk more about this in a few minutes.
Some good news has trickled in since my last offering. Wayne Young has been appointed a director of the law firm of Daschbach, Cooper, Hotchkiss & Csatari, P.A., in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Since graduating with us and then from the University of Hawaii School of Law in 1976 Wayne has practiced civil, criminal and appellate litigation in both state and federal courts in Hawaii, California and Vermont. Looks like the lure of our Mother has finally brought him home...or is it the spiffy new Corey Ford Rugby facility?
Also in the legal profession, Greg Yadley has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Florida Super Lawyers and received the 2006 Florida Legal Elite designation by Florida Trend Magazine. Only 5 percent of lawyers earn the Super Lawyer designation, and the Legal Elite comprise but 1.8 percent of the 57,96 8 members of the Florida Bar. Sounds like you should be wearing a green cape, my friend!
Sports fans will enjoy the news that Mike Sack's daughter Myra has been named honorable mention All-Ivy in women's soccer as a freshman. She started in 12 games and played in three others. Nice work, Myra!
Planning for our 35th in June (11 through 14—mark your calendars!) is moving along nicely. In the last column I gave you a Web address to check it out. This has been updated. The latest and greatest site with which to make your plans is now www.dartmouth.org/classes/72. You can check out the proposed daily itineraries and even register online! Your reunion committee has intentionally built a fair amount of unscheduled time into the gathering so you can explore the campus and beyond at your leisure. Remember gents, this is our reunion collectively, so we welcome any thoughts, ideas or proposals you may have for activities. Just contact me, president Jon Einsidler (jeinsidler@gscorp.com), or our estimable reunion chair John DeRegt (jderegt@spencerstuait.com).
Finally, on a very sad note, our beloved classmate and friend Dan Hergott passed away on October 30. Hergie had fought a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer for three and a hal years, much longer than most afflicted with this terrible illness. Those closest to him attribute this largely to his unfailing optimism, incredible courage and zest for life. Our prayers and best wishes go out to his wife, Gail, and his children Nick and Katie. You will find memories from many among our class on our '72 Web site. A more fitting obituary appears in this issue of the alumni magazine. We miss him dearly.
And so I leave you, gentlemen, to ponder life's mysteries until we gather in June!
Best wishes always in green,
