The Dartmouth baseball team inaugurated its League season in highly auspicious fashion by coming up with a couple of gaudy victories in their first two encounters, defeating Penn 9-3 and Columbia 5-0. With big Emil Hudak of basketball fame holding the Red and Blue to 5 hits and Al Quirk shutting out the Lions with a meager 4 hits, the Green indicated that it had come up with two pitchers capable of holding their own against the most formidable opposition. In the Penn encounter, Dartmouth collected a total of 10 hits, one a double by sophomore shortstop Bud Bray in a big seventh inning. The Columbia game saw the Green produce a satisfactory 8 blows, while Quirk was holding the Light Blue to a scanty diet of 4 safeties. Things are definitely starting off well.
