At A RECENT meeting of officers of the D.A.A. of Boston at alumni headquarters, 44 School Street, the schedule of activities for 1948-49 was reviewed.
First event discussed was DARTMOUTH NIGHT AT THE FIGHTS, held at the Boston Garden on April 7. The occasion was the National Amateur Championship Finals, preceded by cocktails and a buffet supper at the Hotel Manger. This was a new event this year and was very successful.
Next came DARTMOUTH NIGHT AT THE POPS, always popular in Boston. The Glee Club from Hanover was featured, as well as the Boston Pops Orchestra. President Charles W. Bartlett '27 stated that over 1,000 alumni attended, many from out of state.
On June 5, the first annual Alumni Hum was held at the Noble and Greenough School, Dedham. Cocktails and picnic supper followed by entertainment and group singing. This was a new all-Dartmouth family event featuring music by the D.A.A. of Boston Glee Club and Orchestra. Every attempt was made to simulate the springtime hums at Hanover.
Other activities scheduled for the summer include: Clam Bake, Sunday, July 25, at the Thompson Club in Nahant; and an Informal Golf Tournament, August 18, at the Dedham Country and Polo Club in Dedham.
Fall activities will include a special train to the Columbia game at Hanover, pre-game activities Harvard weekend and, if possible, a televised major game.
