The Dartmouth Club of Cincinnati was fortunate indeed in having President Dickey and Al Dickerson present on the occasion of our Annual Banquet which was held at the University Club on January 29. Over a hundred members, wives and guests were present to enjoy the cocktails before dinner and talk informally with the President of the College. Lew Johnstone '41, our own Club President, did a beautiful job throughout the evening as Master of Ceremonies.
Mr. Dickerson outlined the difficulties of his job as Director of Admissions and the tortuous process that he goes through in order to choose the incoming class each year.
President Dickey in his informal talk outlined his own philosophy in regard to a liberal college and its relationship to the democratic way of life. His was indeed an inspiring talk and renewed for all of us the basic function of Dartmouth College. We were all most reassured that President Dickey's strong character and will can carry the College forward through these troublesome times.
In addition to the Cincinnati members who attended, there were also two alumni from Dayton and four from Columbus. We hope that they will be able to attend functions here in Cincinnati more often and extend now an invitation to have them here on April 1 for the Glee Club Concert.
Those members who were fortunate enough to attend are listed as follows:
