At the annual meeting of class secretaries of Dartmouth, last May, I availed myself of the first opportunity to call on my classmate Prof. Emeritus Gerould at his beautiful home on Occom Ridge. The next day the visit was returned and I was invited to his office in Silsby Hall, 2 commodious rooms that the college provides for him where he keeps up his research work at his specialty, zoology. There you will find him every morning about 11 - Taking the elevator to the top floor we descended from floor to floor. Gerould pointed out the wonders of the Hall that houses the natural sciences, laboratories and the rest, the very latest thing in the sciences. How different from the year '9O! This alone was worth the trip to Hanover. In his office he amazed me by saying that he could read Spanish as well as I can. I am looking forward to another visit next May. In response to my request for information for class notes he sent along the following: "3 of our grandchildren, Fred Chase Jr., Exeter '49; Nancy Anderson, Smith '52; Kenneth Anderson, Dartmouth '52, spent Christmas with us at Hanover. A 3rd grandson, John Chase, remained at Dunedin, Fla., a 4th, Curt Chadwick, at Manhattan, Kan. The sth grandson, Alistair Mac Donald, at Aberdeen, Scotland sang ancient carols and lively Scottish songs, dancing now and then with his mother Virginia to tunes on an American banjo. His very young sister 'Molly,' Mary Elizabeth Mac Donald, was amazed at all this internationalism but made no comments."
