Dartmouth was host February 25 to 27 for the Sixth Annual Pentagonal Conference, which includes the independent, liberal arts colleges of Amherst, Bowdoin, Wesleyan and Williams. Beginning with an informal gathering Friday afternoon at President Dickey's house, the three-day program included a series of conferences on mutual problems in Baker Library, Sanborn English House and Thayer Hall.
Headed by President Charles W. Cole, members of the Amherst delegation were Dean C. Scott Porter and Prof. Harold H. Plough, while Bowdoin was represented by President Kenneth C. M. Sills, Dean Nathaniel C. Kendrick, Prof. Edward C. Kirkland '16 and Director of Admissions Hubert S. Shaw.
Delegates from Wesleyan were Faculty Secretary John W. Spaeth Jr., Director of Admissions Donald A. Eldridge and Prof. Joe W. Peoples. Williams was represented by President James P. Baxter, Dean Robert R. R. Brooks, Director of Admissions Frederick C. Copeland and Associate Dean Albert Keep.
In addition to President Dickey, Dartmouth delegates were Dean of the Faculty Donald H. Morrison, Dean Lloyd K. Neidlinger '23, Dean of Freshmen Stearns Morse, Director of Admissions Albert I. Dickerson '30 and William T. Maeck '43, Assistant to the President.
President-Emeritus Ernest Martin Hopkins, who called the first Pentagonal Conference at Dartmouth in 1944, also attended the sessions.
