Friday, October 7, has been designated for the 1949 observance of Dartmouth Night. Serving as the parent meeting of gatherings of Dartmouth men in alumni clubs throughout the country, the Hanover observance will be combined with a campus rally the night before the Holy Cross football game.
These nationwide celebrations will mark the 55th observance of Dartmouth Night which was established in 1895 by President William Jewett Tucker as a means of welcoming the new freshman class into the Dartmouth fellowship. Over the years the event has grown to its present status of an occasion when Dartmouth men everywhere gather to reaffirm their loyalty to the College.
