Eastern Oklahoma

Snug Harbor at Southern Hills Country Club, Tulsa, was just that on the rainy night of April 9, when the annual meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Eastern Oklahoma convened, with Dean and Mrs. Neidlinger as guests of honor. The wind whistled around the eaves of the rustic cabin, rain pattered on the roof and a roaring log fire in the great fireplace gave a perfect setting for a Dartmouth gathering. The Dartmouth Glee Club provided by transcription the musical background for the cocktail hour, during which the members and their wives got well acquainted with Pudge and his charming wife.

A short business meeting followed the dinner of typical Oklahoma fare, and with virtual unanimity these men were installed as officers for 1949-50: Charles H. March Jr. '33, President; Richard W. Simpson Jr. '27, Vice President; Edward R. Patterson '4l, Secretary; an William N. Holway '42, Treasurer. The floor was then turned over to Pudge Neidlinger who gave in his intimate way an excellent account of the activities on the Hanover Plain and the problems of a college dean. Following a spirited question period the gathering broke up at a late hour to convene again at a future date.

Around the festive board were President Ray Hall '4l and Mrs. Hall, Jack Bates 'lO and Mrs. Bates, Dick Simpson '27 and Mrs. Simpson, Fred Fellingham '27 and Mrs. Fellingham, Gerard Dericks '33 and Mrs. Dericks, Chet Dudley 'l3 and Mrs. Dudley, KO Herwig '27 and Mrs. Herwig, Cleve Spillers '39, Jack Ferguson 'l5 and Mrs. Ferguson, Ed Patterson '4l and Bill Grimshaw '4O. In addition to Pudge and Mrs. Neidlinger, Doctor and Mrs. Russell were present as guests with their son, who is a candidate for the class of 1953.

On the morning following the dinner Pudge toured the sporty Southern Hills course with Jack Bates and a couple of other Dartmouth characters, but the score-cards were torn up as soon as the bets were paid off.
