This marks the first contribution to the "News from Clubs and Classes" o£ the Dartmouth ALUMNI MAGAZINE by THE DARTMOUTH CLUB OF MONMOUTH COUNTY, New Jersey. Having held a preliminary meeting last fall on the eve of the Princeton-Dartmouth football game, at which time it was decided to take steps to form a permanent organization, a majority of the alumni residing in Monmouth County, New Jersey, met on Friday, April 8 to present its articles of incorporation and to elect its slate of officers for the current year.

The articles of organization have been forwarded to the College for approval and the officers elected for 1949 are: Dr. Dan Featherston 'l9 of Asbury Park, president; RobertH. Maida '35, of Red Bank, vice-president; Russell Hartranft Jr. '42, of Rumson, secretary; Corydon (Corky) Taylor '43, of Rumson, recording secretary; and George Emery '2B, of Red Bank, treasurer.

A convival evening was had by all, and the pictures of the highlights of the 1948 Dartmouth football season were shown.

The foundation of this branch of the great Dartmouth alumni organization was made possible by the efforts of Ed Knight '27, DaveWillard '2B, George Emery '2B, and Bill Morgan '29, local residents who found going to Trenton for meetings of the Central New Jersey Club too much of a pilgrimage and who felt that there were sufficient alumni in the neighborhood under the same circumstances who would enjoy a periodic get-together. This latter has so far proved to be the case.

More later on our future doings. Out of 47 listed alumni residents in the county, twentyseven attended the organization meeting and 28 the preliminary.

Alumni attending the first regular meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Monmouth County, N. J., at the Willowbrook Restaurant, Fairhaven, N. J., were: Dan Featherston 'l9, Amos Kraybill Jr. '34, Branton Wallace '26, Robert Maida '35, Bill Russell '35, Walt Daggett '43, Bill Morgan '29, Ed Knight '27, Herb Shea '33, Henry Stevenson '24, George Emery '2B, Alston Beekman '33, Bob Norton '33, Ed Banta '4O, Bill Miller '42, Roland Wilhelmy '42, Dave Russell '33, Jim Parkes '2O, Ed Blake '25, Dave Willard '2B, Russ Hartranft '42, Corky Taylor '43, Martin Quirk '25, Stew Rose '3l, Bob Hahn '37, Doug Blair '2B, Bob Brandt '29, Bob Lee '3l.
