The Dartmouth Club of Detroit met at JackBrabb's cottage on Lake Erie last August 29 for gala picnic and swim party. Staff Hudson '19 and Ed Isbey '51 arrived early and challenged Bill Murphy '52 and Bayard Johnson '54 to a rousing game of horseshoes. Ed got his arm in shape for the big Michigan-Dartmouth game here Oct. 7. Bud Devlin '38, Chuck Nevens '52 and Brad Corregan '52 led the swimming party and were joined by DickBrown '29, Paul Woodbridge '29 and wives and dates of the fellows. Dick Kuhn 53, Warren Babcock '52 and their dates spread their lunch on the ground and were frequently routed by swarms of people, dog fights, and a lacrosse attack led by Pete Hoffman '52.

By late afternoon the road to the cottage was jammed as more and more people came to take part in the festivities. Bud Heap '52 and Tom Collins '52 took time off from their factory job to come over and see the old gang. A chorus of husky singers led by JimTracy '36, Fred Husk '17, Jack Brabb 29 and Dick Eberline '29 invaded the kitchen and took command of the beer spigot. After two choruses of Eleazar Wheelock, most people fled to the beaches in self-defense. After dinner, Earl Brabb '51 showed slides of Dartmouth and interested onlookers included MilNewcomb '21, Al Jackson '52, and JohnnyJohnson '28. A huge bonfire was the climax of the evening, and involved in the marshmallow attack and songfest were Al Momenee '36, Gordie Williams '51, George Marshall '51 and Whit Sawyer '51. As the last of the embers died out, the long trek back to Detroit began and another great Dartmouth party came to an end.
