Bank president and sportsman, Philip A. Johnson '37, of Fairbanks, Alaska, recently made the headlines upon his return from a hunting trip with what is believed to be the world's record for a Dall sheep rack. Measuring 28 inches tip to tip, 461/2 inches outside curl on one horn and 4634 inches outside curl on the other, and 14 inches in circumference at the base of the horn, the rack was sent on to a sportsmen's club in New York City for the official reckoning. This will determine whether or not a world record has been established. At present the world record for a Dall sheep is said to be a rack with a 26-inch spread, 47-inch curl and 13inch base.

Sharing honors for the kill was Johnson's companion, John Brennan, proprietor of Honest John's surplus store in Fairbanks, who shot the sheep at the same time.

Some four years after graduation from Dartmouth, Johnson went to Alaska with the stated purpose of making a comfortable living and of getting in all the hunting and fishing he could manage. For these two objectives he was willing to undergo a certain amount of pioneering hardship.

In '949 he was made president of the Bank of Fairbanks. He also serves as president of the Chamber of Commerce. As for his luck in hunting—that seems to be coming along well, too.
