A TURN-AWAY CROWD of 500 filled the big ballroom of Detroit's Hotel Statler for the dinner Friday night, October 6, which was the top pre-game feature of the Pow Wow weekend. At the left is a picture of part of the crowd and of the head table, at which are seen (I to r) Edward T. Chamberlain '36, Richard W. Brown '29, Dean Lloyd K. Neidlinger '23, Philip K. Watson '19, general Pow Wow chairman. President Dickey, Staff Hudson '19, Detroit club president, Charles J. Zimmerman '23, toastmaster, Prof. Allen R. Foley '20, Director of Athletics William H. McCarter '19, and Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College. RIGHT, a close-up of four of the dinner principals shows Mr. Watson, Dean Neidlinger, President Dickey and Mr. McCarter.
BEFORE THE DINNER alumni from far and near had a chance to hold convivial reunion with friends of college days, and many smaller class gatherings were scheduled for private rooms in the hotel. At the left is shown the large pre-d inner reception, with the spirit of the affair well depicted by the songsters surrounding the musicians. RIGHT, a Saturday morning scene on the special train that took Big Green rooters to Ann Arbor for the Dartmouth-Michigan game. Among those standing and facing the camera are Stacy Hill '41 and Lew Johnstone '41.
THE GAME AT ANN ARBOR brought out a large Dartmouth rooting section, mainly from the Mid-West. The stadium picture to the left shows the Big Green followers, who enjoyed the sunny weather and, for the first half at least, had exciting visions of an upset victory over the Wolverines. RIGHT, after the game the Dartmouth fans returned to the Statler for a dinner dance, their spirits in no way dampened by the strong showing the Indians made in defeat. Facing the camera (center) is John H. Brabb '29.
