The picture as painted by Dartmouth's dean indicated that colleges have never been able to operate on a balanced budget, large gifts are becoming more and more rare, and that operating costs at Dartmouth have risen one third since pre-war years due to increased salaries and retirement and scholarship demands.
President Francis X. Reilly Jr. '3,8 presided. Treasurer Harry C. Midgley '40 reported that more than $1,000 has been contributed toward a Worcester County scholarship. Alton K.Marsters '30 is chairman of the scholarship fund committee.
