Every association representing Dartmouth throughout the world can use innovations aimed at creating new interest among its members, especially when it is beamed at the distaff side of that membership. Our Long Island group feels that it is getting such a proverbial "shot in the arm" via the initiative of Mrs. Dorothy Darby, wife of WalterDarby '39. Dorothy took it upon herself to tell our executive committee via a letter just how she felt about being more or less left out of most of our activities. Simultaneously she offered her services in whatever capacity she deemed necessary to cudgel interest within the female counterparts of our Association s members. A hasty response by President WillardDoyle gave the lady a complete carte blanche, along with a bright green light to do whatever she wished that would tend to include the girls more completely. We feel fortunate to have such a person who would volunteer her time and energy, and wish her good luck with her program.
Our plans for a Christmas party to take the place of the annual fall freshman installation dinner has been tentatively pushed forward till spring, with the thought of possibly including newly accepted freshmen of the Class of 1958, as well as this present freshman class for Long Island. Red O'Connor, Car 11 Buehler and Wally Rushmore are the committee and the decision rests with them. Sounds good! Our mailing list indicates the recent return of Lawrence Cameron (Larry) Hull '39 from Chicago to Garden City. Larry is welcomed back as our gain and Chicago's loss.
