Fund Support From Parents
CHAIRMAN, PARENTS COMMITTEE
IT is a pleasure to report on the results of the first organized campaign among parents for the Dartmouth Alumni Fund. In all, 359 parents responded to the appeal of a small Parents Committee, and contributed $28,184. All parents can be justly proud of this contribution to Dartmouth. Each gift played an important part in the over-all success of the 1951 Alumni Fund.
Dartmouth can take deep satisfaction in the loyalty and generosity of the parent segment of its family. The Committee solicitation was directed to non-Dartmouth parents of undergraduates and recent graduates, and was almost entirely by letter. The response was spontaneous and gratifying. This support for the College coming from all over the United States shows that the average parent is more than pleased with what he has received from Dartmouth, and that he believes this kind of college should be continued and helped.
On behalf of the Parents Committee I wish to thank all contributors for making this first campaign such an outstanding success. We are confident that parent support of Dartmouth will grow in the future.
