The St. Louis Dartmouths elected ErnieGrinnell '42 as 1951 president; with JamesJones III '3B, vice-president; Bill Chapman '35, treasurer; and Joe Logan '42, secretary. The new officers have taken hold in masterful fashion and we can look back on two very well attended smokers and a lively golf tournament, already, this year.
The golf tournament at Westborough Country Club took place September 6, and 15 brothers and one guest battled it out in bloody fashion. Leigh Turner '04 and JohnGranfield '46 tied for low gross, and since Granfield won the hole-in-one competition, Leigh was awarded the Harry Deckert Memorial Pot—l mean Cup. Subsequent to the tournament dinner the usual research into the laws of averages was conducted.
On September 25 a smoker at Charley Edison's brought out 22 of the boys. One of the several "one world" plans was well presented by a guest speaker and several of the more impressionable members present sent off wires to sundry congressmen forthwith. Quite a bit of business transpired at this meeting which we must skip for the sake of brevity.
A loud Wah Hoo Wah for Tom Curtis '32, newly elected Trustee of the College. The St. Louis Club is proud of Tom and most gratified by the honor to him and to our midwestern area.
We are looking forward with mixed feelings to the December visit to St. Louis scheduled by the college basketball team. It will be grand to see a Big Green team in action, but we are kinda apprehensive about their opposition—couldn't it have been Washington U. instead of St. Louis U.? There will be a cheering section present for the boys and if wishful thinking means anything we'll lick the Billikins.
Our St. Louis Club continues to meet weekly at Gerkins Buffet, 315 Olive St., for Thursday lunch. Any braves and/or squaws in St. Louis on that date will be most welcome.
