Dartmouth opened its League campaign by battling Yale to a 2-2 tie in the frigid confines of Davis Rink, before a large and enthusiastically partisan crowd. The Green scored first in the opening period, when Billy Dow took a pass from Captain Cliff Harrison and shot a high one into the nets. Dow scored again with half a minute left in the first period, when he picked the puck up on the rebound and rammed it in, after Harrison's shot had caromed off the stick of the Yale goalie. That proved to be the end of the Dartmouth scoring for the evening, although in the final period the puck seemed to be in and was duly so signalized by the blinking of the red light, only to be called no goal by the officials.

The visitors scored both of their tallies in the second period, the second when a slow pass went unseen between the legs of Freddie Hitt, the Dartmouth goalie, when the latter was screened from both the puck and the shooter by a group of scrambling bodies. Neither side was able to score in the third and final period, whereupon the game went into overtime. There was still no score after the ten minute period, so the game was declared a tie. Coach Jeremiah's pupils cannot be commended too highly for their aggressive tactics and their all-around play. As previously noted in these pages, the hockey prospects did not look very impressive at the start of the season. But they are getting better.
