In accord with the action taken at the January luncheon, an early spring meeting was held on March 16 at the Fort Gatlin Hotel in Orlando. Luncheon was served in the private dining room which, for the while, became an outpost of Hanover and the Dartmouth campus. Classes from 1895 through 1942 were represented by those in attendance, a spread in years which is characteristic of Dartmouth gatherings and reflects the sustained interest and loyalty among our alumni.
The sentiment has been growing more and more among the membership that the Club should meet more frequently and at more or less stated times during the fall, winter and spring. It was agreed that a celebration of Dartmouth Night in October and a football game rally in November would get the group off to a good start at the beginning of the season. A special committee was authorized and appointed to explore this matter and submit recommendations to the Club.
Chief interest and topic was the coming visit of President Dickey on April 10. Arrangements have been made for a dinner at the University Club in Winter Park to honor our distinguished guest. This will undoubtedly be the largest gathering in the history of this club.
Those present at the March luncheon included: William F. Rice '95, Joel A. Harley '95, Hamilton Gibson '97, Fred W. Halliday '01, George F. French '01, Clarence L. Phelps '01, Thomas Barnes '02, George L. Swasey '06, D. A. Cheney '11, Richard C. Plumer '12, James Gamble Rogers '25, Gordon P. Chipman '26, John Tiedtke '30, and Reed Griffith '42. Also attending were Mrs. Barnes, Mrs. Harley, Mrs. Halliday and Mrs. Rice as guests.
