"Tuss" McLaughry, head football coach at Dartmouth College, was the main speaker when the Dartmouth College Club of Greater Lawrence met in Spring session March 9 at the Merrimack Valley Golf club in Methuen.

With characteristic straightforwardness, McLaughry blasted away at big-name athletics as sponsored in service posts and installations, and nominated "GI Joe" to the honor of All-American athlete in war time.

Said "Tuss," "Big name stars do little to boost morale as they display their talents in the 'states-side' camps, while less athletically inclined servicemen go on to fight the enemy in the battlefields of the world."

His remarks drew strong support from one of the largest Greater Lawrence alumni groups ever in attendance at a Spring meeting. In addition he offered an up-to-date report on the state of the College.
