"Porpoise Performer Without Portfolio" is the title given to this picture by Jack Herpel '28. He writes, "None of us—Bud McKenney, one large porpoise and me-has ever had his picture in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE and all three of us feel this occasion is sufficiently significant." Jack (left) gleefully watches his friend and classmate Bud McKenney risking the disappearance of an arm while Button, the porpoise, is fed. In another picture (not printed) Herpel looks decidedly worried as Button is shown purposefully approaching him for a handout.

McKenney's "Theatre of the Sea," where Herpel has his ringside view, is a natural aquarium situated near a highway running between Miami and Key West. Sharks, rays, beautiful color fish, tarpon, and performing porpoises are featured in a marine show which all Dartmouth men down that way are advised not to miss.
