PRESIDENT DICKEY'S Convocation address, delivered at the exercises opening Dartmouth's 184th year, was hailed by many as his finest effort since he became head of the College. We are pleased to print the full text, beginning on Page 17.
One of the prime objectives of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE this year is to present several articles that will give alumni a fuller and clearer understanding of the educational program and policies of the College. To launch this effort, Prof. Anton A. Raven '3711, chairman of the Faculty Committee on Educational Policy, has written a special report to the alumni reviewing the action and some of the thinking of his Committee during the past year. His excellent report, for which the editors are grateful, begins on Page 19.
Top news of the past month was President Dickey's announcement at Dartmouth Night that the College will annually award twenty Daniel Webster National Scholarships and that an anonymous gift of one million dollars has been promised to support this program. An account of these long-awaited national scholarships will be found on Page 25.
