Affiliated with General Motors Corporation since 1923, and at present vice-president and general manager of its overseas operations division, Edward C. Riley '16 was the recipient of an outstanding honor November 19, when he was presented with the 1952 Captain Robert Dollar Memorial Award for distinguished contribution to the advancement of American foreign trade, at the World Trade Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. The announcement that Mr. Riley had been chosen for the award was made by the National Foreign Trade Council.

Mr. Riley began his career in the automobile industry with Hyatt Roller Bearing Co., in 1916. After joining General Motors in 1923, he spent many years abroad in its overseas branch, with service in England, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Australia and other countries. In 1930 he was made regional director for Europe; in 1933 assistant general manager; and in 1935 manager of General Motors export division. In 1941 he was named general manager of the overseas operations division, and in 1942, a vice-president of the Corporation. In January 1952 Mr. Riley was appointed to the executive committee of the United States Council of the International Chamber of ommerce.

Mr. Riley's father, the late Edward S. Riley, graduated from Dartmouth in 1889, and his son Edward S. in 1945.
