PROF. SARGENT is the author of a section, "How to Run a Cost System," in J. K. Lasser's latest volume, Executive Course inProfitable Business Management.

Prof. Frey will serve as one of the judges in connection with the First Annual Advertising Awards of the National and Southern Industrial Distributors' Associations. The purpose of the awards is to encourage and stimulate the use of advertising addressed to the buyer-users of industrial supplies and equipment that points out the benefits of the many functions of Industrial Supply Distributors. The other judges are C. F. Ogden, President of the National Association of Purchasing Agents, and J. F. Apsey, Jr., President, National Industrial Advertisers' Association.

Hamilton T'23, former Tuck faculty member, James A. Hamilton Associates, Minneapolis; JohnK. Benson T'32, Assistant to the President, The National Shawmut Bank, Boston; John Wallace T'36, Assistant Vice President, The National Shawmut Bank, Boston; Harold F. Hedberg, Production Manager and Assistant Vice President, Albany Felt Company, Albany; Sumner Robinson, General Sales Manager, Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Cos.; and AlbertL. Gibney '36, Knight and Gilbert, Inc. (advertising agency), Springfield, Mass. The advertising class is cooperating with Mr. Gibney (and vice versa) in developing a campaign for a product of one of the latter's new clients.

Harry Marschalk '37 has been elected a vice president of Vick Chemical Company and is in charge of the company's program of diversification and expansion through acquisition of new subsidiaries. Chick Pooler '30 has been appointed to the new position of vice president in charge of marketing at Benton & Bowles, Inc., advertising agency; he is now responsible for supervision of research, media and merchandising. Harold Frank T'48 is Divisional Manager of the main floor of Abraham & Straus' much publicized new branch store at Hempstead, Long Island. A recent Procter & Gamble sales bulletin led off with

"Hats off to 'Berf Oakley, Section 7, for an outstanding selling job on both Soap and Crisco this month. He leads the District on both Total Soap and also Crisco sales versus Temporary January Quota through the 25th." Berf (T'50) is now in Denver working with the District Manager. Gail Grant '43 of the Gail G. Grant Company, Painesville, Ohio, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Advisers of the National Retail Dry Goods Association's Smaller Stores Division; Howard Schneider T'48 who has been wit-h Scott Company at its Fort Edward mill has been promoted to General Accountant and moves to the main offices in Chester, Pa.; Ken Edelson T'51 has jumped from the retailing field to Campus Sweater and Sportswear Company, Cleveland. Albert Dickson T'51 is with the National Bank of Detroit in the Credit Department.

Jim Stevens '50 reports that research work remains fascinating; he continues in the Procurement Division of Standard Brands in New York City.
