THE major contents of this issue have been contributed by undergraduates, in keeping with the MAGAZINE'S tradition of publishing an Undergraduate Issue each spring.
The opening editorial section has been written by Kenneth J. Roman Jr. '52, who was Editor-in-Chief of The Dartmouth for 1951- 52. His comments on The Undergraduate Year (Page 11) are followed by an article about the Assyrian bas-reliefs which Dartmouth increasingly values as a treasure from the ancient world. Donald P. Hansen '53 is the author of this account, entitled Ashurnazirpal'sStory (Page 14).
A survey of the Class of 1927, approaching its 25th reunion, was made this year by two sociology majors, James D. Binder '52 and Thomas L. Papst '52, as a senior thesis project. Their findings are reported in the article 25 Years After (Page 19). A fourth special article for this issue has been written by William H. Sample '52, executive manager of intramurals. In Sports for All (Page 23) he discusses the aims of the student-run program and also reviews the current year up to spring vacation.
With The Undergraduate Chair (Page 21) we present this month a short profile of an interesting undergraduate. The editors plan to make this the start of a series of such sketches, with the aim of letting the alumni share in Hanover's knowledge of the fact that the Dartmouth student body contains many men with uncommon character, ability and interests.
