THIS I REMEMBER . ..
Three wonderful days with some of the nicest people I have ever known .. . Blue skies, brilliant sunshine ...
Dartmouth ... And Charlie! ... 103 31'ers with 80 wives and assorted youngsters forgetting the lapse of 21 years and living it up big ... The ever-present keg of beer ... And the ever-present cacophony of those tower chimes! ...
The look of complete bewilderment on Charlie Simonson's physog when he discovered that he had bought those mammary muffs for the third time .. .
The complete relaxation (?) of Schuldenfrei the moment he became ex-Treasurer... And Charlie! ... John Dickey's friendly chat to open the business meeting... The negotiations with Lloyds of London for insuring the oxcart taxi... Ace Phinney with Heidi Engstrom on his lap for the class picture ... The great job done by Ed and Berta Gruen ... The best and most practical reunion outfits ever enjoyed by any class ... Shep Wolff's homer in the second inning and Bill Wendell's game winning homer in the 7th . ..
And Charlie! . .. The moonlit reception in the President's garden ... And Sid Rubin's Tango ing at the Alumni Dance... Sher Guernsey carting that arbor vitae all the way from Schenectady ... And Dartmouth ... The six-man outfield in the baseball game . .. The valuable and thoughtful gifts donated by 31'ers for the auction-raffle ... The wives of '31, obviously having a good time and feeling that they were a "part of things" . .. The wide grin on Ned Campbell's face when he heard that Pete Evans was elected Treasurer and its rapid disappearance when he heard himself named as Editor of the News Letter ... And Charlie! .. .
