Coach Tommy Dent's lacrosse team completed the season with a 6 and 4 record, the difficulties resting primarily in the defense department. The team was able to score comfortable quantities of goals on most occasions, but the boys were often unable to keep the opponents from doing the same. Coach Dent has been experimenting with the crucial position of goalie all season, and finally moved Al Fiertz into that position, where he did better than anybody else had before him this year. Coach Dent is very philosophical about goalies which, he remarks succinctly, are made by God and not by coaches.
The usual contingent of seniors played their last game for Dartmouth and must be replaced another year. They were Captain Ed Lyon, Al Fiertz, Jim Fowler, George Scully (nominated to play on the North team in the annual North-South Allstar classic), Bill Quimby, Bob Binswanger, Bill Fisher, and Don Wagner. The team next year will be based upon such returning stalwarts as Captain-elect Tom Bloomer, Dick Gates, and Dave Thielscher, plus a host of hopefuls from the strong freshman team.
And so another college year comes to a close.
