The Richmond segment of the Dartmouth Club of Virginia held two non-scheduled summer dinner meetings (June 16 and July 20) for the principal purpose of deciding upon the feasibility of accepting the Glee Club's proposal to include Richmond in its 1954 spring itinerary.
At the June meeting the following committee was appointed to investigate and make recommendations on the proposal: Lee Hodgkins '20, chairman, Rod McCathran '42, LarryReeves '33, Henry Stern '46, Mort Thalhimer '46. At the July meeting the committee rendered such an enthusiastic report in favor of the project that upon motion made by Dr.Vander Hoof and seconded by Chick Thompson, it was voted by an overwhelming majority "to invite the Dartmouth Glee Club to include Richmond in its 1954 spring itinerary, providing all funds needed to underwrite the affair are on hand in the treasury by December 1, 1953."
The possibility of organizing a chartered bus safari to Annapolis for the Navy game October 3 was also discussed at both the June and July meetings, but the idea was abandoned due to scarcity of "firm" commitments for participation.
