Seven buildings and an unspecified amount of land formerly belonging to Clark School, which was purchased last spring by the Cardigan Mountain School, have been sold to Dartmouth College, according to a recent announcement by John F. Meek '33, Treasurer and Vice President of the College.
The property taken over by the College includes Alumni Hall, a brick dormitory on North Main Street; a frame classroom and gymnasium building on Elm Street; a frame house at the corner of Elm and North Main Streets; a frame dormitory on Choate Road; a frame house at the southwest corner of Choate Road and North Main Street and a frame house on Webster Avenue. The land involved includes the playing field in Hanover and acreage on the Hanover-West Lebanon Road.
The frame building on Webster Avenue will be purchased by Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity whose members have already left their former house on School Street and have moved in. The frame building on the corner of Elm and North Main is being temporarily occupied by employees of the Hanover Inn. It is hoped that the brick dormitory on North Main Street will be ready for occupancy by Dartmouth students next semester. The playing field will continue to be available for recreational use as it was when owned by Clark School. No plans have yet been completed for the use or disposal by sale of the other property.
