By William F.Stark '50. Privately Printed. 1952. 108 pp.
This book about the history of a Wisconsin lake started out as a Dartmouth thesis. After graduation the author did more research, and because of a demand for the book, the author printed it himself.
It is a well documented account of a small lake in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Once the home of the Potawatomi Indians, once full of hardwood forests teeming with game, the territory is now inhabited for a few months of the year by landed proprietors from Wisconsin who use it for summer residences.
Bill Stark has found many old and interesting photographs to illustrate his book; the notes for each chapter are certainly adequate; the end papers are descriptive of the historical features of the lake, and this reviewer would think the book a natural for Wisconsinites interested in their own history and in their own territory.
