Frank A. Pemberton, the new director of the Dartmouth College News Service, arrived at his office in Crosby Hall on February 9. He came just too late to be caught up with Carnival events but was, nevertheless, quickly involved in the stream of campus happenings, lively at this time of year. By the end of his first week he was no longer thought of as "the new Harvard man"; and colleagues at the ALUMNI MAGAZINE end of the office were impressed by his ability from the start to spell Eleazar with an "a" and not an "e" in the last syllable.
A newspaper man, Mr. Pemberton was formerly education editor and feature writer for the magazine section of The Providence Journal. Before this he did general news reporting for three years, also for the Journal. After graduating from Harvard in 1942 he served as lieutenant with the Field Artillery in Europe during World War 11. In Hanover he lives at 41 College St. (once the home of President Nathan Lord) with his wife and three children.
