We regret to report the death of William S.Spinney '41 on February 19. He was associated with the Mountain States Telephone and TelegTaph Co. and had been very active with the Dartmouth Alumni Association since he moved to Denver in 1949.

It was announced by the United States Bureau of Public Roads that Byron W. Matteson '03, Division Engineer, retired March 1, after 33 years of service. Last year he was presented with the Department of Commerce Gold Medal Award for outstanding work in national highway development.

Our secretary, Hart D. Gilchrist '31, has resigned his position and has moved to Indianapolis, Ind., where he has accepted a position with the American States Insurance Co. His contribution to the Alumni Association and to the College has been wonderful and we certainly regret losing him to Indiana.

Edwin (Ned) Grant '30 is beating the drum in this area for contributions to the Artificial Ice Drive. He said that George Colton's recent trip here should certainly help the cause.

East Denver High School was awarded the Dartmouth Cup by President Ralph Rickenbaugh '28, for placing first in the annual high school ski meet. The individual cup for first place was awarded to East Denver's Chuck Lewis, son of Harry Lewis '29. We feel that this is wonderful publicity for the College and that Newc Eldridge '50, the promoter, deserves congratulations for the way the affair was handled. We are looking forward to having Dean McDonald and Brock Brower at our annual meeting April 10, at the University Club.

Secretary, 510 U.S. National Bank Bldg. Denver, Colo.
